El Paso man involved in deadly motorcycle crash outside Odessa

An El Paso man was involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist over the weekend.

Odessa Highway Patrol said the accident happened 5 miles west of Odessa.

According to officials 46-year-old Daniel Escalante of El Paso was driving his semi-tractor trailer on a road just off Interstate 20 and was about to turn east onto the interstate.

33-year-old Refugio Gomez was traveling west on a motorcycle when Escalante pulled out in front of him.

Gomez tried to avoid hitting the semi-tractor trailer and the motorcycle ended up sliding on its side. Gomez hit a tire on the tractor-trailer and was pronounced dead on the scene.

There is no word if Escalante will face any charges.
