— one person is dead after a crash in northeast el paso. we have your round the clock coverage… an el paso teen found dead hundreds of miles from home. the latest on what went wrong after the chapin student left the borderland. and the people of tornillo eagerly waiting for water to return. 3-thousand people waiting for a pump to be fixed. good morning. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning. we’ll get to your weather in just a bit first — we begin your round the clock coverage… police are on the scene of a deadly crash right now in north central el paso. this is at hayes and gateway south. this will be affecting many heading out this morning. let’s go now to round the clock reporter denise olivas with the latest.. denise… gateway south at hayes is closed off. drivers traveling on gateway south are forced to make a right at hayes. police confirm one person is dead. Let’s get to the video new this morning when our photographer arrived to the scene. Police dispatch told me a truck flipped over. From what we see out here it crashed into a fence that surrounds some fort bliss property. We still don’t know if speed or alcohol were factors. Special traffic investigators are out here and it could take several hours to clear the scene. That means the morning commute will be affected. As i mentioned, from gateway south drivers are being forced to make a right at Hayes. Hayes will take you to Dyer where you can make a left. That’ll take you back to us 54. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… let’s go now to a live look let’s go now to a live look outside this thursday morning…. this is from our abc-7 mountain cam. can we be in store for some rain chances later today? stormtrack weather meteorologist krystal klei is standing by with the latest…. good morning! today we’re tracking some changing conditions in the forecast! in the morning we’re beginning with partly cloudy conditions outside over elpas thanks to moisture that pushed in from the south at the upper levels. those clouds will hang through the morning, which will slow any warming today. those clouds will then move east in the late day and night as the storm system from the west moves our way. once it moves in, we’ll see very low rain chances for spotty isolated light rain showers. plus, with the system the winds will gain strength. this morning we’re seeing temps ranging again from the 40s in some areas to the 60s in parts of elpaso. those temps will rise just like they have been in days past, just not quite as high. we’ll talk rain chances, and how high winds will go coming up in just a few minutes! still no water this morning for the people of tornillo. they’re starting a fourth day without water service, waiting for a broken well pump to be fixed. the el paso county tornillo water improvement district says the new pump should arrive some time today, but it’ll take 12 to 24 hours to install it. abc-seven has confirmed classes at tornillo schools will not be canceled for the rest of the week. the district made provisions to have plenty of bottled water, portable restrooms, and hand sanitizer. sack lunches will be prepared at san elizario schools. the red cross is providing 5 gallons of drinking water per household every day. now for the few households that do have running water, it must be boiled before being consumed. we will of course keep you updated on the status of the new well pump. a one-year old child is clinging to life this morning, after nearly drowning in the family pool. it happened just before 7 last night on the 10-thousand- 400 block of byway drive. that’s on the east side. police and emergency crews were called out after the child fell. the child was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police aren’t releasing any further details at this time. grief counselors will be at chapin high school today — to help students and staff deal with the death of a student. the el paso school district tells abc-7 18-year-old edgar, a senior, was found dead in colorado yesterday. vargas disappeared last week after telling his family he was traveling to a friend’s prom near durango. his wrecked truck was found at the bottom of a canyon below a curvy mountain road near ouray colorado. according to k-k-c- o, vargas’ body was pulled from the canyon near red mountain pass. authorities had been searching for him since friday. an autopsy is pending but authorities say they believe vargas’ death was an accident. “praying, crying …” a mexican teen is back in her mother’s arms this morning — after she was taken from her school in mexico and forced to live in the united states. this video of 14-year alondra luna nunez drew international attention last week — after federal police took her and sent her to live with a woman in houston. the woman claimed alondra was her daughter and had been illegally taken to mexico by her father years ago. alondra’s family insisted authorities were mistaken but their pleas were ignored. she was returned to her home in guanajuato after d-n-a tests showed she is not the daughter of the houston woman. alondra’s mother says she is now taking action on the matter. 2015 is shaping up to be a big year for retail business in el paso. it was a gathering of the minds at the west texas idea exchange yesterday along with networking … business leaders got to see what’s in the works and what’s yet to come. marketing researcher norma mendoza has studied the best areas of town to open up shop and what the mexican consumer wants. a 2012 survey by merkadoteknia shows that more than 26 percent of cross border shoppers spend on average 100-200 dollars per trip — and visit el paso once a month. with a new ballpark and several quality of life bond projects underway — there’s no doubt that investing in the borderland is worth every dollar: “and they’re all really interested in the market. Many of them have not been to El Paso ever, and so this is their first impression. Yesterday, there was a baseball game, and they were all impressed with the stadium. And the weather of course.
