First Alert issued due to high winds, some blowing dust possible

A StormTRACK Weather First Alert was continued by the ABC-7 StromTRACK Weather Team for lasting windy weather on Wednesday.

The winds are forecast to gust up to 50 mph on Wednesday afternoon, with sustained winds out of the west southwest at 20 to 30 mph in El Paso. Those winds will peak between 3 and 6 p.m.

Along with the windy weather Wednesday, some blowing dust is possible.

A wind advisory was put out by the National Weather Service for Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. for expected high winds. The advisory includes El Paso and Dona Ana counties.

Winds will drop some overnight, but may pick back up briefly as a cold front passes overnight into Thursday morning.

Thursday afternoon the winds will become lighter, and temperatures Thursday will be lower thanks to the front.

The high is forecast Wednesday at 86 degrees but 77 degrees Thursday.
