Report: Former NMSU basketball coach Lou Henson tests negative for non-Hodgkins lymphoma
Legendary New Mexico State University basketball coach Lou Henson has tested negative for non-Hodgkins lymphoma, according to a report by the Las Cruces Sun-News.
Henson has been in Houston this week, undergoing tests for a weakened immune system. He will get more test results on Friday.
Henson was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2003.
The 83-year-old became dehydrated last week and spent a few days in an Illinois hospital. Henson lives in Illinois in the summer months and Las Cruces, New Mexico, in the winter.
On Sunday, Henson traveled to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where he has been treated throughout the years after his 2003 diagnosis of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
Henson will be inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in November. During his career, he became one of the most respected tacticians in the college game.
