Fort Bliss security not affected by shooting at naval center in Tennessee

Security at Fort Bliss has not been affected or changed by Thursday’s shooting incident at a naval center in Chattanooga, Tenn., a Fort Bliss spokesman told ABC-7.

Four Marines and the gunman were killed in the Tennessee shooting.

Fort Bliss completed Iron Response 2015 last week, an exercise that centered on an active shooter scenario and tested Fort Bliss’ response to such an incident.

Several local media, including ABC-7 participated in a mock news conference that was part of the exercise.

“The loss of any lives, military or civilian, weigh heavily on our hearts. Senseless acts of violence affect Soldiers, just as it would anyone else. Remember, we live in and amongst the El Paso Community,” Fort Bliss spokesman Gilbert Telles Jr. said.
