Montwood High School welcomes new head coaches

The start of the school year is right around the corner, but Montwood High School started a little earlier this year than usual.

That is because Montwood High introduced staff and students to the new softball and wrestling head coaches.

Oscar Norez will now coach the wrestling team while Cynthia Hernandez is now the new softball coach.

Hernandez is a Montwood alum and played college softball for three years and finished her career at UTEP. She said she is looking forward to the challenge and building off of last year’s momentum.

“What better way to start off with the team that I have,” Hernandez said. “so this year we have another year to take it all the way back to back district champs again.”

Hernandez coached at Bel Air for the past six years, and is now the head coach for Montwood boys and girls wrestling team.

Both coaches said they are excited for the new opportunity and are ready to get to work.
