Search for missing LC woman intensifies

The family of a missing Las Cruces woman is desperate for answers.

Nearly 100 people will search this weekend looking for any clues related to the disappearance of 44-year-old Janet Castrejon.

Janet went missing over a month ago during a family camping trip in Arizona at Rustler Park.

Janet’s father is desperate to find his daughter and that’s why he’s organizing a big search party this weekend to find her.

“Its difficult living with out her,” Janet’s father, Eduardo Castrejon said.

Its been more than a month since Eduardo Castejon’s daughter Janet went missing.

“If we have to do more we will,” Castrejon said.

Desperate for answers, the family has searched Rustler Park almost every weekend.

This Saturday nearly 100 members of the community are expected to join.

“Theres a lot of people that don’t know janet that have never met her but they have been sympathizers,” Castrejon said.

People who have never even met Janet will drive to Arizona this weekend and search for clues.

“Obviously were not thinking about a search and rescue operation at this stage of the game but something that we may have missed somebody that could find a piece of clothing a shoe,” Castrejon said.

Castrejon says recently there was a possible sighting of Janet in Louisiana.

Needing answers, the family immediately flew there to review surveillance video.

“There the police were kind enough to show us the entire video and we found sadly that it wasn’t her,” Castrejon said.

Castrejon says they’ll be combing a 2 and a half mile radius of the campsite.

He says Rustler Park will waive the entrance fee for searchers.

“This would be the greatest failure we could ever have if we find nothing up there that means the hope is still alive that she’s still alive,” Castrejon said.

The search is expected to last until Sundayevening.
They’re offering 20,000 dollars for Janet’s safe return.
