UTEP’s Matt Willms and Omega Harris to miss ’15 season

UTEP Basketball Head Coach Tim Floyd confirmed with ABC-7 Friday center Matt Willms and guard Omega Harris are to miss the upcoming ’15-’16 season.

Willms will miss the entire season due to a reoccurring stress fracture dating back to last season. Floyd said Willms will undergo surgery in Los Angeles in the near future.

Willms is working to apply for a medical red-shirt in hopes of not losing a year of eligibility.

While Omega Harris is now officially deemed academically ineligible and will miss at least the first full semester of the school year. It is possible if Harris improves his academic standing he could return to the team in the second semester.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
