Humane Society Telethon: Behind the scenes

humane society throught the day and it’s always a very busy day for us here at the abc-7 studios and for staff and volunteers with the humane society. so we wanted to give you a behind the scenes look at what it takes to put this telethon together. abc-7’s jerry najera has been behind the camera and interviewing volunteers all day.. jerry? evan josie this is the humane societys 22nd telethon. and it’s always a lot of fun there’s wonderful dogs and puppies roaming around the newsroom and great people here for a great cause but it’s also a lot of work. when you watch the humane society’s telethon on television you’re only getting a glimpse of whats going people from the humane society begin preperations for the telethon a year in advance. rounding up volunteers-about 75 to a hundred of them. many of them answering phones in the kvia newsroom others trying to get donations through social media. for some it’s not their first time “14, 14 years” seasoned volunteers like esther herrera say the reason for spending countless hours volunteering is simple “me loving th animals having them have a good place to stay while they get adopted” “i ju enjoy doing this for the animals and helping people out” “i love the team i wo with but most of all it’s the need that the animals show everyday” here at the studios the staff doubles up. on cameras and more cameras producing juggling between editing news and pooch video. this man right here- chris swann pretty much doesn’t leave the directors chair for 7 hours. but when it’s all said and done many of us here at kvia will agree with volunteers on this day it’s all about our furry friends. “it’ my outlet and i love it a lot” “i get joy and fun and i learn lot of stuff to care for animals” and remember we are trying to hit a goal of 130-thousand this year phone lines will be open until 11. the americans
