BREAKING NEWS: Two explosions at Las Cruces churches
Las Cruces Police are telling ABC-7 that they have confirmed two separate explosions at two different Las Cruces churches early this morning.
The explosives blew up a mail box at Calvary Baptist located on Missouri and Locust. The other explosion was in a trash bin at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Miranda Street.
Parishioners at Holy Cross tell ABC-7 that the 8 o’clock mass was just getting started when the explosion in the trash bin went off, shattering the stained glass windows.
All services have been canceled for the day. Churchgoers were evacuated immediately and are not being allowed to leave in their own cars at this time. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
The Doa Ana bomb squad is investigating the situation. At this time we do not know what kind of explosive devices were used or the motive behind it.
