3 teens charged with murder granted bond in Dona Ana County

Three of four arrested in a shooting death in Dona Ana County have pled not guilty to several charges.

The shooting on July 31, 2015 resulted in the death of 17-year-old Jaycob Alba. The three teens have each been charged with one count of the following: : First-degree murder, aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, shooting at an inhabited dwelling causing personal injury and tampering with evidence.

The state requested that no bail be set pursuant to Article II section 13 of the New Mexico Constitution (see bottom of article for this part of New Mexico Constitution).

Judge Beverly Singleman granted Jordan Gift a $50,000 secured bond, D’Shaun Hermans a $75,000 secured bond and set no bond for Adrian Hortelano.

Singleman imposed standard conditions of release for Gift and Hermans which state they are not to possess a firearm, cannot leave Dona Ana County or the State of New Mexico and may not have contact with anyone who may testify in their pending cases.

Charges against the fourth person allegedly involved in the shooting death, 17-year-old Daniel Munoz, are pending.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s deputies say Alba was shot and killed during when the teens were allegedly breaking into a mobile home.
