Police investigate latest murder in central El Paso
Crimes Against Persons is investigating a murder in central El Paso.
El Paso Police officers responded Wednesday, just before 2 a.m. to a ‘shots fired call’ at the intersection of Van Buren Avenue and Cassidy Road.
Officers found a man unresponsive with gunshot wounds.
He was taken to University Medical Center where he died. Police have not identified him.
A police department spokesman told ABC-7 a search for a suspect or suspects is underway.
Officers could be seen marking bullet casings through out a shopping center parking lot between Monroe Street and Van Buren Ave.
Investigators spent part of the early morning talking to witnesses.
TRAFFIC ALERT
The Cassidy Rd. exit from U.S.-54 southbound is closed while police conduct the investigation.
Police have not said when it will reopen. The closure will affect anyone trying to get onto Fort Bliss through the Cassidy gate.
