Sheriff’s office identifies motorcyclist killed in Sunday collision

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has identified the motorcyclist killed in a collision on Sunday morning.

He has been identified as 65-year-old Jorge Llamas.

This is the sixth traffic fatality in El Paso County in 2015 – five of which have involved a motorcycle.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the Special Traffic Investigation section at this time.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6700 block of Doniphan in reference to a collision involving a motorcycle.

Sheriff’s officials say a white Chevy pickup was traveling southbound on Doniphan Dr. when the pickup slowed down to make a left turn when a green motorcycle, also traveling southbound, rear-ended the pickup.

The driver of the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected off of the motorcycle.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Deputies say the driver of the pickup, Hector Fernandez Garcia, allegedly fled the scene of the collision and was found and arrested in a neighboring area shortly after the crash.

Garcia was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the offense Accident Involving Death. Garcia was required to stop and see if Llamas required aid.
