commissioners are hoping to open a new chapter in the dispute between the county hospital and el paso children’s hospital. that’s if they can come to an agreement this week. abc-7’s andrew j. polk was at commissioner’s court today, and is live with what’s next. andrew? rick and estela, commissioners want to reach an agreement as soon as this week before big legal bills start to get racked up during the lawsuit between the hospitals. and commissioners say it could happen this week… after two major events last week – a judge deciding that el paso children’s has to pay rent, draining cash on hand more quickly.. and a meeting with between children’s and the county hospital district last friday. county commissioners discussed the situation behind closed doors today… and will be meeting with the u- m-c board tomorrow. they hope to have a concrete plan and deal to offer children’s this week … and bring this whole dispute to a close. “we’re going to be talkin tomorrow – umc and the commissioner’s court. we will be discussing what we will present to children’s as one last sort of effort to assist and to help them . it will be up to them whether they decide to accept it or not.” children’s is under increasing cash stress since federal bankruptcy judge h. christopher mott ruled that children’s now has to pay umc rent of about $870 thousand a month… with only about $11 million on hand as of the last required report from el paso children’s. rick and estela? ok, andrew, we’ll see what happens in the coming days. thank you. talk of a new natural gas pipeline that would
