Deputies: Chaparral man, 25, smashed windows of patrol unit, hid behind bushes

A 25-year-old Chaparral man broke the windows of a marked Doa Ana County Sheriff’s patrol unity and hid in some bushes nearby, deputies said.

Anthony Snyder, 25, was charged with one felony count of criminal damage to property after allegedly breaking the windshield, and back and side windows of a patrol unit park outside a substation in Chaparral.

An employee alerted deputy to the damage, while another deputy had been flagged down by passerby who said there was a suspicious man hiding in some bushes nearby.

Deputies questioned Snyder. They said his shoes matched the prints left neat the damaged car.

Snyder was booked into the Doa Ana County Detention Center where he’s being held without bond. Estimated damages to the unit are approximately $1,300.
