Attempted murder trial of former Border Patrol agent begins
The trial of a former Border Patrol supervisor charged with trying to kill his estranged wife’s boyfriend began on Monday.
Alberto Montelongo is accused of holding the couple hostage and allegedly shooting the boyfriend in the head. He is charged with attempted capital murder and family violence.
ABC-7 aired live coverage from the standoff scene in Montana Vista when it happened in February of this year.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says it sent in a robot to snap pictures.
Monday in court, investigators told the jury the pictures show Montelongo armed with a handgun and holding his wife Angelica Parra hostage.
The investigators also testified other pictures showed Montelongo’s car parked near the home.
Prosecutors say Montelongo later shot Jesus Rodriguez in the head. Rodriguez survived.
