Beware, Paisano West down to one lane between Executive and Sunland Park

The goal is to close the gap. Loop 375 wraps around the city, with the exception of West El Paso near Sunland Park. The Loop 375 Border Highway Extension project is meant to fix that. But as construction gets underway, traffic is a mess.

The idea is to connect the loop at U.S. 54 and Racetrack Drive near Doniphan Road. The connection comes with a new four-lane controlled access toll facility that connects Loop 375 to U.S., with access points at Doniphan, Executive Center, Spur 1966, and Coles street. The entire project has an estimated cost of $500 million.

Currently Paisano West is down to one lane between Executive and Sunland Park. Drivers can’t get off Paisano West by way of McNutt or Racetrack, nor can you get on Paisano East via these roads either.

The best bet is to use Mesa Street and the exits free of the mess — Schuster and Sunland Park.

ABC-7 reached out to TX-DOT to find out when this project will be completed and if its on schedule, but they did not return our calls. Previous reports estimate it will be done by Spring 2018.
