Mayor Miyagishima wins 3rd term in office

Ken Miyagishima has won a third term as mayor.

With all precincts reporting, the incumbent mayor has 5,246 votes. District 1 Councilor Miguel Silva has 3,382 votes and businesswoman Gina Montoya Ortega has 1,596 votes.

Councilor Silva’s district 1 seat was up for grabs since he ran in the mayoral election. According to early voting results in that race, Kassandra Ann Gandara has a slight lead with 871 votes. Her challenger, Melecio Guzman, has 853votes.

Steven Calderazzo dropped out of the district 1 race, but his name appeared on the ballot because he withdrew too late. He received 106 votes during early voting.

In the district 2 race, Gregory Smith received 962 votes, giving him a small lead over Philip Vanveen, who has 810 votes.

In district 4, Richard Hall has 610 votes, Gilbert Vasquez has 183 votes, and Jack Easkman leads with 621votes.

Presiding Judge Melissa Miller-Byrnes retired last month. Kieran Francis Ryan holds an early lead over William Kinsella in the race for the vacated seat.

Early voting results show Francis Ryan with 6,184 votes to Kinsella’s 3,139.
