Ruben Mendoza Elected Horizon City Mayor

Voters elected a new mayor Tuesday night after incumbent mayor Walter Miller decided to run for alderman.

Ruben Mendoza defeated Mark Weidenfeller in the mayoral election to replace Miller. Final results show Mendoza with 360 votes to Weidenfeller’s 169.

Mendoza vacated the Alderman Place No. 1 seat, which was being sought by Miller and Fred Lopez. Final results show Miller with 307 votes to Lopez’s 217.

Johnny Duran defeated Curt Noland in the race for Alderman Place No. 5. Duran received 335 votes. Noland received 180 votes.
