after a deadly crash in west el paso. it happened on i-10 by redd road. the crash happened just after 6 o’clock yesterday evening at the 56-hundred block of south desert boulevard. we are now getting new details on what happened from a witness involved in that crash. to give you some perspective… this is what the scene looked like yesterday evening. traffic was backed up all the way to transmountain. so far… we know one person is dead — 2 others taken to the hospital. two semis — and four cars were involved. and new this morning.. abc-7 anchor estela casas ran into one person invovled in that crash …. who says he is lucky to be alive… “the next thing i remember, i’m in my back seat…. i hear metal going everywhere … and i just remember seeing a young man running up to me saying am i okay?” estela: “ar you okay? you just got out of the hospital. “yes, i’m buyin a sling right now for my shoulder” police have not released any other information on the crash. and new information this morning on another crash on i-10… this one involving two semi trucks near deming. it happened on i-10 east about 2 miles from the border patrol checkpoint at mile marker 120 last night. new mexico state police tell us i-10 was down to one lane in that area. we’re also told one person was transported by air ambulance to u-m-c. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… and now to the latest on the investigation into that russian plane crash in eqypt that killed 224 people. the possibility that a terrorist bomb brought down the plane looks increasingly likely, and if true, will be one of the worst act of terrorism since 9-11. this morning, new calls for increased airport security for all foreign flights bound for the u.s.–of increasing concern with the massive number of u.s. travelers that will be in the air for the thanksgiving holidays. abc’s lana zak has this story developing now– the possibility that a terrorist bomb downed the russian plane in egypt is sending international shockwaves… with implications for us travelers. sot president barack obama: i think there is a possibility that there was a bomb on board. and we’re taking that very seriously the department of homeland security is expected to announce plans to tighten regulations on us-bound flights from international airports–as early as today. earnest sot the obama administration is reviewing a number of different steps that we can take to enhance security for commercial flights bound for the united states from certain foreign airports. with more than 25 million americans expected to fly over the thanksgiving holiday, the need for vigilant security could not be greater. here in the u.s., baggage is sent to special tsa underground screening rooms… each bag run through explosive detection scanners. but the standards at foreign airports vary widely… and even here in the u.s. security has been raised since this summer, when tsa screeners were found to miss hidden objects 95% of the time.. and internationally, the list of countries halting travel in and around egypt’s sinai peninsula is fowing… following the british lead. nats while back in russia, communities begin to bury their dead, the first of hundreds to come. those funerals really a reminder of what’s at stake some of the enhanced security that is being discussed include matching luggage to ministry released new videos on thursday of what it claimed were airstrikes in syria. they are, saying the pictures showed hits on positions and facilities held by islamic state group militants. the russian defence ministry spokesmansaid on thursday that over the past 48 hours russian jets have conducted 81 flights over syria that targeted 263 facilities belonging to extremists. since last month, russia has launched hundreds of airstrikes targeting what it says are islamic state group and other extremist group positions. also new this morning–take a look at this! a dam burst at a ming operation in southeastern brazil on thursday. the water submerged nearby homes and buriedvehicles. authorities said there are dead and missing, but as yet they gave no figures. aerial video from brazilian broadcaster globo tv showed houses and cars buried under water and clay-red mud. rescue teams were searching for survivors and residents living in an area downhill from the dam were told to evacuate to higher ground. a small cluster of homes and about 400 people live in the small town of bento authorities said the dam was built to hold back water and residue from mining operations, a mixture that can often be toxic. / in pakistan— members of an inquiry committee assigned to investigate the causes of the collapse of a four- story factory building, visited the site on thursday. the head of the committee told reporters his team was gathering evidence to determine who or what was responsible for the disaster. rescuers using cranes continued digging through the rubble to try to find survivors. the death toll from the collapse of the building rose to at least 20 on thursday, officials said. more than 200 workers were believed to be inside the building when it collapsed overnight on wednesday. back here in the borderland- monday’s deadly apartment fire in east el paso was an accident. that’s the latest from investigators. 32- year-old magaly mendoza … and her two daughters… 11- year-old andrea garcia. and 4-year- old paulina ortega did not make it out alive. it happened around 4-30 in the morning at the las casitas apartments near mcrae and i-10. at first the fire department reported a skillet that was left unattended on the stove is what started the fire. but yesterday during a news conference — the fire marsal backtracked and said it was just one of several possible factors. today — the fire marshal confirmed — the fire started at the stove and it was caused by theat overheated skillet. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… still much more to come here on good morning el paso — a development in northeast el paso is set to begin with plenty opposition from residents…that is… unless a deal is made. we’ll explain. plus–more
