ABC-7 Weather Academy: Northeast Children’s Education Center
As part of a community outreach plan, ABC-7’s StormTRACK Weather Team holds “Weather Academies” for local students across the Borderland.
Meteorologist Krystal Klei visited Van Horn last week, StormTracker Nichole Gomez attended Northeast Children’s Education Center Thursday morning and Chief Meteorologist Doppler Dave Speelman will visit St. Patrick Cathedral Friday afternoon.
The weather team provides a presentation which includes explanations about Borderland weather, and a few national weather events. Students will learn about cloud types, precipitation forms,hurricanes, and tornadoes.
The experiment portion of the presentation, includes experiments with cold and warm air masses, weather instruments and an explanation of how clouds form by using a large glass jar, warm water and ice.
