County restarts Ascarate holiday lights

county is also looking to bring back a holiday tradition for ascarate park abc-7’s andrew j.polk is live with that story. andrew? rick and estela, the county wants to light up the holiday season like in years past… with commissioners voting unanimously today to host “lights on the lake.” it had been a major holiday display around the park and lake… but previous officials cut it during the economic downturn. but now, new county staff under the parks and special events department have worked quickly to bring it back just in time for the holiday season. the lighting ceremony will be december 12, and the lights will be on from sun down to 10 pm each night through january 4th. and to make it more worthwile on the weekends, the county will be bringing in more to make it more than just something to drive by. “anybody can actually drive through there monday through thursday and just enjoy it, which is what they used to do in the past. weekends, we’ll have the additional food trucks, and it is the county policy $2 per car.” the total budget for the show? about 35 hundred dollars. but the county expects to be able to break even with the extra cars and donations. the holiday season is almost upon us … but the spirit of giving is already here:
