british prime minister david cameron says he will seek parliament’s approval for britain to join u.s.-led airstrikes against islamic state extremists in syria. sot cameron: i firmly support the action president has taken to strike isil in syria? the two leaders agreeing to step up counterterrorism efforts. sot cameron: “it is clear the world is coming together to tackle this terrorist threat?.” tag: later this week french president francois hollande will travel here to washington dc to try and bridge president obama and russia’s president vladimir putin against isis. stephanie ramos abc news washington the number of people killed in a terrorist attack friday on a hotel in mali has risen to twenty-two. a statement released by the u-n mission in mali on sunday says six other people have serious injuries. a witness said the gunmen who raided the hotel in bamako shouted “allahu akbar” as they sprayed bullet on tables of people at breakfast. the hotel employee said they shot at anything that moved. malian and u-n security forces ended the siege hours later. the two attackers died. it’s not clear if they were killed by security forces or if they blew themselves up. syrian refugees allowed in the u-s was the topic of abc-7 xtra. last week lawmakers passed a bill that blocks refugees from coming into the country until a stricter vetting process is established. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with a recap. … in our studio last night– victor manjarrez, jr., associate director for national center for border security and immigration at utep. and dr. josiah heyman. he is the director for the center for interamerican and border studies at utep. he is the director for the center for interamerican and border studies at utep. dr. heyman says we should be more concerned with homegrown terrorists. the white house administration says the vetting process is for the most vulnerable syrians– a majority are women and children. that process– according to officials is rigorous and can take up to three years. manjarrez questions if this is a time to overwhelm our capacity to do background checks: “i go back to our history…the nazis in europe” dr. heyman referenced the denial of jews into other countries– referenced the denial of jews into other countries– including the u-s– fleeing nazi germany as the most recent precedent in history. obama maintains that the u-s remains open for refugees. 10- thousand syrian refugees are expected in the nex year. back here in the borderland— el paso police need your help in finding the driver that fled the scene after a hit and run this weekend. the crash happened shortly after 1 a-m on sunday on the 7800 block of gateway east and corral . police say 53-year old albert guzman was stopped at a traffic light when a dark color dodge ram pickup was speeding and hit guzman’s vehicle. he was taken to a local hospital where he later died. the driver of the truck fled the scene. if you have any information please call crime stoppers. their number is on your screen now, that’s 915-566-8477. meanwhile, another crash took left two people dead near the town of vinton. it happened shortly before one pm sunday on i-10 east. el paso county sheriff’s deputies say a car stopped on the outside shoulder underneath the vinton overpass, that’s when they say a semi-truck struck the car from behind. two people inside the car were killed. deputies have not identified them just yet. the crash is still under investigation. new this morning– court documents indicate a woman who plowed her car into a homecoming parade for oklahoma state university was not drunk. 25- year-old adacia chambers killed four people and injured dozens more when she drove into the parade route on october 24th. a document filed thursday in payne county district court indicates that chambers’ blood- alcohol content was only point- zero-one … far below the legal limit of point-zero-eight. chambers faces four counts of second- degree murder and 46 counts of assault and battery. i now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… still much more to come here on good morning el paso — a long list of dirty laundry for one city representative is having at least one el paso resident publicly calling for him to step down–we’ll have more details coming up / plus—winter is definitely on its way and it’s definitely starting to look that way in certain parts of the country–we’ll take a look / meteorologist krystal klei has your detailed forecast. krystal… and this is abc-7, where news comes first! in an editorial published this
