LCPD Patrol

Las Cruces Police will park its Mobile Operations Command center at the Mesilla Valley Mall beginning Thanksgiving Day and officers will have an increased presence

Officers will work out of the MOC and have ‘round the clock patrols of the business district along Lohman Avenue and Telshor Boulevard the evening of Thanksgiving, and throughout Black Friday and Saturday.

On Saturday inside the mall near Barnes and Noble, police will hold an Ident-A-Child from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Parents and caregivers will receive an ID card with their child’s fingerprints and other identifiable information.

Do not allow young children to shop or wander around stores on their own.
Avoid placing a purse in a shopping cart. Either carry a purse close to your body or leave the purse home and carry a wallet in a front pocket.

When possible pay for items with a credit or debit card and avoid having to carry large amounts of cash while shopping.
Do not overburden yourself by carrying too many bags or packages – especially in darkened or busy parking lots.

Have automobile keys ready, in your hand, prior to leaving the store.
If shopping after dark, park in a well-lighted area and near the storefront.
Another good parking option is to park near the shopping cart return “corral” so you can unload merchandise and return the cart easily.

Do not hesitate to ask store security for an escort to your vehicle.Always be aware of your surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity.
