91-year-old husband charged with murder in death of terminally ill wife at retirement home

A 91-year-old man has been arrested in the death of his 93-year-old wife at a West El Paso retirement home.

Police say Nelson Harvey allegedly shot his terminally ill wife, Evelyn Harvey, and her body was discovered at about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in their bedroom at the Monte Vista at Coronado retirement home.

According to the police affidavit, Nelson told employees that he was tired of his wife suffering so he shot her.

The employees went to her bed and found her with a suspected wound to the back of her head that had bled out, according to the affidavit.

Nelson, who has been married to Evelyn for 60 years, has been charged with murder and has a bond of $25,000.
