Estela’s Escuelas: Catholic students celebrate pope
in today’s estelas escuelas. … “cheers we take you to saint raphael school. where a “mini” pope, complet with mini popemobile and escort greeted and blessed students and parents. students have been learning all about pope francis ahead of his visit to juarez — they even go to show off some of the projects they’ve been working on. the parade made it way around the school and the parish grounds. the mini pope is a first- grader at the school. we’re so excited about this event in our borderland. it’s a one in a lifetime experience. the kids are ready and they’re excited. and just through this experience they have learned so much about our pope, the vatican and rome. it’s a learning experience. as part of a wellness program, the school gathers the last wednesday of every month for walking wednesday. the walk was moved to today to amrk the pope’s visit. over to st. pius catholic school, where a 1st grader has been selected to present pope francis with flowers when he arrives in juarez this is seven-year- old ana ortega. her letter to pope francis won a contest organized by the catholic diocese of juarez to greet the pope upon his arrival. we asked little ana what she’s going to tell the pope. he can bless the whole world and the peopl who are sick. ana’s mother, also named ana ortega, told abc-7 that the family is very happy about ana presenting the pope with flowers. she said ana might not quite understand the magnitude of the experience because she’s 7 , but ana is happy about being picked. let’s go back to the back abc-7 weather lab. abc-7’s nichole gomez
