Construction crane tips over outside Speaking Rock

today. a large crane tipped over while lifting a large concrete wall. the crane collapsed next to the speaking rock entertainment center. that’s off of socorro road and gonzales street. abc-7’s jerry najera was at the site he bring us the story. construction crews moved with urgency. speaking rock entertainment center management tells abc-7 at around 11:30 tuesday morning this crane tipped over. crews were putting up a massive concrete wall for a speaking rock expansion project. the crane not only tipped over but the wall came crashing down. you can see here the 80 ton crane was practically suspended in mid-air. speaking rock management says the driver who was in the crane at the time is doing ok and no one else was hurt. socorro road and gonzales street were closed off. heavy equipment and two cranes were rushed in to get the crane upright. we also saw el paso electric crews shutting down power in the area to keep crews safe. “nearly six hours later crews were still cleaning up the mess breaking up thast massive wall that fell on the street” nearly 7 hour later crews got the crane upright the roads were re-opened and power was restored. jn abc-7. a speaking rock official says the expansion project which will be a new venue for concerts is still expected to be open in about 3 months. today dozens
