Semi pro football team fights for injured teammate
El Paso Sun Devil star safety, Manny Cano, did it all for the semi-pro team headed into it’s third season.
“He’s one of those players you want on your team because you know he is going to give 110 percent,” Darrell Parker, Sun Devil co-owner said. “He was also a leader on the field, off the field and in the locker room too.”
But all of this changed in an instance as Cano was critically injured in a car crash back in Oct. 2015.
“I was devastated.” One Sun Devil teammate said. “I couldn’t believe that type of incident could happen to a person like him.”
Cano suffered a broken jaw, broken collarbone, a pierced lung and lost mobility in the left side of his body among other injuries.
But the Sun Devil players are fighting more than ever this season for their own brother Cano.
“It’s 2.” Parker said. “That’s the only we gonna, everything is going to be focused around the number 2. Manny, Manny Cano no matter what happens.”
Here is a Go Fund Me account for Cano and his family to help with the expenses.
