Charges pending against Las Cruces driver who crashed into three cars
A woman was driving recklessly when she crash into three cars and three poles Wednesday afternoon in Las Cruces, police said.
Traffic investigators said the driver of a 2005 Ford pickup struck the first car around Arizona Avenue, then hit two others were hit between there and Kansas Avenue.
The driver was speeding north and crossed into the southbound lanes before hitting three poles, investigators said. The truck came to a stop when it hit a rock wall at the Si Seor Express restaurant.
The three poles that were hit were an El Paso Electric utility pole, a city light pole, and a speed limit sign. Officials said the damage to the utility pole caused temporary power outage in the area.
Police said the Ford was driven by a 27-year-old woman who was injured in the crash. She was taken to University Medical Center of El Paso with non-life-threatening injuries.
One other person received minor injuries during the crash.
Police do believe alcohol and speed may be contributing factors in the crash. Charges against the woman are currently pending.
