Chihuahua governor talks election, immigration

tomorrow. and today – chihuahua’s governor had a message for the united states about the controversial issue. our maria garcia is in juarez covering the pope’s visit. she joins us live with the story. maria? because the pope is expected to talk about immigration. during a news conference today, a reporter asked chihuahua governor cesar duarte what his message was for the u.s about immigration. speaking delibaretely and slowly during a news conference, the governor said in spanish quote: “let’s not forget the pope is latin american and the sons of immigrants in argentina.” h also said the u.s. presidential election has brought about radical intolerant rhetoric against immigrants. though he didn’t mention presidential candidates by name, the governor said the anti immigrant sentiment was coming from the right of the political spectrum. but after the news conference, when i caught up to the governor to ask him to elaborate on his comments, he said those were only his personal views. maria: governor, you mentioned the u.s. presidential election and an anti-immigrant … duarte: i’m not speaking political american. i’m only my vision personal in the moment of the visit of the pope.” remember when pope francis introduced himself to congress last year, he introduced himself as the son of immigrants. and the el paso diocese has told us –during his trip to the us last fall, pope francis orginally wanted to enter the country as an immigrant, going from juarez into el paso. the vatican decided against it, saying if the pope
