Las Cruces family to see Pope Francis

One Las Cruces family is preparing to travel across the border to see Pope Francis.

The Aranda’s are parishioners at Santa Rosa de Lima Church in far east Last Cruces.
They got their tickets last week and are overjoyed with the opportunity to see Pope Francis in person.

The family told ABC-7 their church, Santa Rosa de Lima offered 50 tickets to parishioners for the papal mass. The Aranda family was one of the lucky recipients.

While among thousands in attendance, they say they’ll pray for their church and that it will one day be completed.

“The Las Cruces Catholic Diocese is aware of our situation and they’re ready to help but if I can pray for some intercession from the holy father to help speed that up I will,” Jose Aranda said.

“I’ll pray for my family and my friends and our church too,” 10-year-old Cynthia Aranda said.

The Aranda family tells ABC-7 they’d still be going whether or not they received the tickets. Theyll be walking with a group of about eight other parishioners from a home in Juarez where theyll be staying. They say they’re prepared for what the long day will bring.
