El Dorado Introduces New Football Coach
El Dorado High School has named Ruben Torres as its new football head coach and athletic coordinator.
Torres, a UTEP grad, recently led the football program at Ysleta. He was introduced Tuesday morning at a pep rally at El Dorado High School.
Torres is taking over an El Dorado program that won a district title a year ago and finished the season with a solid 7-4 record.
He knows he’s got a team with a lot of potential.
“I know we have a lot of talent coming back. They have a big wide receiver and a very dynamic quarterback. They’re extremely athletic and fast,” said Torres.
When asked about his goals for the future, Torres didn’t shy away from talking about one day bringing a state title to El Dorado.
“You know what, why not? Canutillo had a great run a few years ago,” said Torres. “And there is so much that goes into it, and I feel like the support and the expectations are here. I think the kids are hungry for that. And that’s definitely what we’re gonna work towards.”
