Faithful praise “Two Nations, One Faith” event
were arriving in their country in great numbers. >> it is coming up on 6:00, actually after 6:00 the event at the sun bowl will soon be wrapping up. the two nations, one faith event that we’ve been bringing you coverage of throughout the afternoon. we want to check back win our reporter on the scene out there, ashley rodriguez is live in the sun bowl. >> the sun bowl is clearing out now, now that the mass has ended people are leaving very pleased with smiles on their faces. they’re very excited about what they heard. they came to hear a mess anage from pope francis that’s exactly what they got. he talked about healing, love, faith. but he also had a message for the young people. in fact he said they are the prophet of tomorrow we have to take care of them. here with me to talk about the impact his message had on young people, is jose and jeanette. jeanette, tell us what youth group you represent. >> st. judes catholic church. >> you were telling me that his message really hit home for you. explain why. >> well, i believe as young people of the church of catholic religion the pope telling us that we’re the future of the church, it makes us want to strive to better the church for our peers as catholic people. and him telling us that we’re the future, because he brought up the problem that, what’s that called, the violence in juarez he told us that we — we’re the catholic — we’re the up and coming catholics he wants us to fix it. it’s like a chance to us, challenging us to become better catholics to fix the religion and fix all the crime that’s happened. >> exactly. must behalf so inspiring to hear that message. i know the crowd erupted when he mentioned el paso. it was just a sense of elation to see him speaking directly to us. how did you feel? >> i felt really happy and really like proud of our religion. like coming together and like getting the message and everything, like it was really nice. >> definitely a moment to remember. jose, jeanette, thank you so much for joing us here on abc-7. and the sun bowl is clearing out very quickly. people came here to hear a message from pope francis, they all left with smiles on their faces. everyone left with something to hold on to, whether it be unity with our sister city, unity with each other, renewed faith in god and in their faith. whatever it may be, people got the word that they were looking for. for now send it back to you inned studio. >> thank you very much. it was about an hour ago that during homily that pope francis made reference to the sun bowl and bishop mark seitz, one christian community, we celebrate together, god bless. again that was pope francis directing those comments to those at the sun bowl. quickly make a correction, i don’t know if i misspoke or not make it clear that the chalice were given from the vatican to the bishop of railroad wees not the other way around. but again, that was a gift from the vatican that he leaves with the country he visits this time it was again chalice given to juarez
