83-year old male is killed in fatal crash
On Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. Police responded to the 7300 block of Alameda after reports of a traffic collision.
Police say that 83-year old Fidencio Camacho was driving a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and was stopped at a red light at Durrill and Alameda. As Camacho drove into the intersection of the red light, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado traveling east on Alameda struck Camachos vehicle.
Camacho suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to University Medical Center where he later passed away. Daniel Mendoza, the driver of the Silverado, and his 17 year old passenger were taken to Del Sol Medical Center where they sustained minor injuries.
According to Police the major factor in the crash was failure to obey a traffic control device by Fidencio Camacho.
This is the 11th traffic fatality in El Paso compared to 9 this time last year.
