Mesilla Park man arrested for alleged molestation

Doa Ana County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 78-year-old Mesilla Park man early Thursday morning on charges that he sexually assaulted two young family members.

Alfonso Jimenez, Sr., was taken into custody at his home in the 700 block of Picnic Court just before 8 a.m. According to court documents, Jimenez allegedly engaged in sexual acts with two female family members who were both under the age of 12 when the crimes reportedly occurred.

Jimenez is charged with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual penetration and two counts of third-degree criminal sexual contact of a minor by a person in position of authority. He is being held at the Doa Ana County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
