Texas Avenue to close at Kansas Street for streetcar utility work
Texas Avenue will close to all eastbound and westbound traffic at Kansas Street beginning on Thursday, March 10, 2016. The closure, which will last for approximately two weeks, is necessary to allow crews to continue underground utility work related to the El Paso Streetcar Project.
San Antonio Avenue will re-open to east-west traffic at Kansas Street on Friday, March 11, 2016. Kansas Street will remain closed from Texas to San Antonio.
Kansas Street between Paisano Drive and Father Rahm Avenue
Crews will begin installing new storm drains on Kansas Street between Paisano Drive and Father Rahm Avenue will continue for approximately four weeks.
Initially, traffic will be routed along the westernmost lane of Kansas Street. Once crews have completed storm drain installation on the eastern side of the street, traffic will move to the street’s easternmost lane. On-street parking will be allowed only on the side of the street which is open to traffic.
The intersection of Kansas Street and Father Rahm Avenue, which is presently closed, is expected to re-open to north-south traffic during the week of March 14. At that time, north-south lane closures will begin on Mesa Street at Father Rahm Avenue. Father Rahm Avenue remains closed to east-west traffic.
Closures at Other Locations
Lane closures continue along Oregon Street near El Paso Community College and the University of Texas at El Paso. Arizona Avenue and Rio Grande Avenue remain closed at Stanton Street. Stanton Street remains closed between Montana and Arizona.
