5-year-old boy killed in deadly rollover in Sierra Blanca
Update: All occupants have been released from the hospital with the exception of the 13-year-old child. The child is in critical but stable condition at the Children’s Hospital. It was determined the 13-year-old child was not wearing a seat belt.

A 5-year-old boy is dead following a deadly rollover Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. This happened around 1:30 p.m. on mile marker 96 on Interstate 10 in Hudspeth County.
DPS said a 2004 Dodge Durango was traveling east when it had a blowout on one of its tires. The driver, 23-year-old Coraima Ramirez of Anthony, NM, lost control and entered the median where the SUV rolled over.
One of the children in the vehicle, a 5-year-old boy, was ejected during the crash and pronounced dead on scene. DPS states he was not wearing his seat belt.
Three other boys were in the vehicle, ages 13, 4, and 1. The 13-year-old was taken by medical helicopter to University Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. The 4-year-old was taken to Del Sol Medical Center by ambulance with non-incapacitating injuries. It is unknown if the boys were wearing their seat belts.
The only boy confirmed wearing a seat belt was the 1-year-old. He was not injured.
The driver and passenger, 43-year-old Veronica Payne on Canutillo, TX, were both taken to Del Sol Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. It is unknown if the two women were wearing their seat belts.
