Antonio Lopez capitol murder trial continues

accused of killing 11-month-old jayla beckley, a foster child in his care. in 20-12 lopez admitted to killing jayla. but yesterday the defense said someone else claimed to kill the baby. they say another foster child — abigail flores who was 12 at the time — admitted she killed jayla. today we heard from one of her foster mothers. abc-7’s jerry najera is live with the latest developments … we have to keep in mind abigail flores has had several foster parents since 2012 yesterday we heard one foster mother talk about flores’s violent past including stabbing another foster child with a pencil today elizabeth chavez testified. chavez was abigails foster mother for a few months in 2012. elizabeth chavez was asked by the defense if abigail had caused any problems while in her custody and she said yes. she said “the most serious was when she choked one of the 5 year olds” the defense asked “did you feel i was unsafe with her in the house?” she replied “yes” chavez request flores be removed from the home. also on the stand inmate justin holmes holmes spent time with lopez in jail and says lopez told him he did numerous things to the baby. lopez allegedly admitted to “picking her up shoulder high and dropping the baby” holmes als said lopez told him “he did othe things including “slamming a door on the baby.” during both of the witness testimonies the jury was not present. the judge wanted to hear both chavez and holmes to determine if they were credible witnesses. she feels they are and will allow them to testify in front of a jury on monday. police are investigating the death of a one-year old girl after
