A grandmother a father-in-law and juror react to mistrial

you talking. some who support lopez … saying he’s innocent. some on the jury say he’s guilty. all the while … a grandmother’s heart remains broken. abc-7’s jerry najera has followed the case since it began. he is live with interviews and reaction you’ll see only on abc seven. rick estela i spoke with baby jaylas grandmother mary beckley today. she did not want to talk on camera. understandibly, she is emotionally distraught. lopez’s father tells us his son-in-law has been forever changed i spoke with one of the men on the jury. he told me – his heart aches for baby jaylas family. “they are asking my son well wh didn’t you testify? he can” testify he’s been i jail four years. look at his eyes my son isn’t there anymore” juan holguin–antonio lopez’s father in law who has also fostered children tells abc-7 in a exclusive interview. he believes his son- in-law is innocent and had nothing to do with the death of baby jayla. holguin believes is was harsh interrogation tactics that made lopez confess. “the hammering that they did to my son-in-law..i mean you can’t tell a man like antonio lopez to confess or we’re going to put your daughter in jail you can’t do that to that man..they threatened him sayin if it wasn’t him is was her” but it was that tape confession with detectives that has has others persuaded lopez is guilty. juror roy anderki gave me this statement” “i didn’t fee justice was served..i felt there was plenty of overwhelming evidence to charge lopez for capitol murder” “i hope the next jur is a better pool” and thursday evening jaylas grandmother who lost custody of her in 2012 tells me “i’ve been following the news.. i’ve been crying all day.,justice will be served for jayla” right now it is unclear if and when the district attorney’s office will persue a retrial. tomorrow el paso police officer david ortiz will be laid to rest. ortiz
