Council discusses Chihuahuas ticket hike
ticket prices. some where disappointed in hearing about the price hike and today the topic came up at city council. abc-7’s jerry najera is live with the story new for ten … rick estela it was city rep emma acosta that brought up the conversation on the ticket prices going up and she wanted to explain to constituents why it’s going to cost more to watch a game. “i started getting calls from the constituents and so i wanted to adress it” city rep emma acosta says she wanted to find out for herself why ticket prices went up this season. grass seats will still be 5 dollars season seats will start at 7-50 per seat for each game but advanced tickets will cost you anywhere from 8 to 30 dollars 8 to 10 dollar seats will now cost 11 to 15 dollars depending on the day and a high end seat 25 dollar seat will now cost you up to 30 dollars acosta had an explanation for constituents: “electric rates increased, just like everyone elses did. the water rates increased and the cost of insurance increased” she also mentioned the increase in cost for providing fireworks but acosta also wanted to remind citizens the contributions the chihuahuas have made to the community “they participate in basball clinics, hospital visits, school visits reading programs, mentor programs” in a past interview chihuahuas general manager brad taylor said no sports or entertainment enties sit flat. and a spokeswoman for the team also reminded us they hold promotional events like pepsi’s family four pack which offers a discount price with food and drinks and promotions that offer discounts to military past and present. “i can tell you th chihuahuas have more than exceeded my expectations” mayor oscar leeser notes–it is not up to council to decide whether prices for entertainment are suitable or not. “our job as leaders of the community is to help the public sector to move forward and advance their business and make sure they are very successful in el paso so by any means do we want to tell anybody to change their model.” to change their model.” and there may be more promotions to come. chihuahuas officials say promotional dates are still being worked out for the 2016 season. jerry, thank you. today dona ana
