2016 Music Under the Stars to be held both at Cohen, Chamizal

Music Under the Stars will have a new look in 2016, at least for half of the season.

The Museums & Cultural Affairs Department announced Wednesday that the annual music series will be held both at the Chamizal National Memorial and Cohen Stadium in Northeast El Paso.

The move comes after El Paso City Council approved funds to make improvements to Cohen Stadium for continued use.

“Partially moving the season to Cohen Stadium allows us to share the community event with other parts of the city, build new audiences and strengthen our relationship with Fort Bliss families,” MCAD Assistant Director Ben Fyffe said in a news release.

This year’s lineup includes a 4th of July fireworks spectacular at the Chamizal and popular “Noche Ranchera,” though the band line-up won’t be announced for a few weeks.
