one man is dead after a head-on collision in las cruces–the latest details from our new mexico mobile newsroom. also in new mexico— firefighters continue to battle a fire that has destroyed more than 100-acres in the ruidoso mountains. ” donald trump’s campaign manager under arrest, donald trump himself, under fire, i’m abc’s meghan hughes, i’ll have the very latest coming up” a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. the storm system will lift out over the great plains wednesday. temperatures will cool down to below normal wednesday through saturday. another part of this storm system will split off and form an upper low that will drop down over northwest mexico friday. this will bring the borderland a slight chance of showers friday and saturday morning. first to round the clock coverage— a fire broke out earlier this morning in west el paso . it was reported just after 4:30 at 59-33 north mesa t the coronado shopping cener. . this is video we recorded from our tx dot traffic cameras just after it began. you can see when firefighters arrived on the scene emergency dispatchers tell our newsroom, it’s the shopping center on the northwest corner of sunland park and mesa. no injuries were reported and no word yet on what caused the fire. fire crews have the right lane on mesa southbound closed off abc-7 is waiting to learn the identity of a man who died in a motorcycle crash last night in las cruces and why he was trying to get away from police. authorities say it started as a chase around 7-30 at university and locust. that’s across the street from new mexico state university. nmsu’s police chief says a university officer was pursuing the motorcyclist after he ran a red light and refused to pull over. we’re told when the officer backed off — the motorcyclist went the wrong way on university. he ended up hitting a truck head-on. the man was taken to the hospital where he later died. his name has not been released. / some schools in ruidoso will still be closed again today after the fire that began earlier this week on moon mountain. the fire has been burning in gavlin canyon just south of ruidoso high school since monday. according to k-o-a-t an abc affiliate in albuquerque, the fire burned about 125 acres, not 150 like previously reported. our new mexico mobile newsroom was in the area yesterday… about 100 firefighters have been working around the clock to keep the flames under control and because of the high winds in the area yesterday, the fire spread to nearly 50 yards away from ruidoso high school. the fire has many residents in the area concerned. / “if you were here during ht little bear fire all of that emotion comes flooding back and so you really start to feel unsafe” thankfully no injuries reported in this fire. the high school and middle school will again be closed today. elementary school will be open until further notice. we are still a few days away from a major closure in downtown el paso. if you work in the area– it’s probably best to start mapping out alternate routes. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the details…denise?
