2016 STEM+ART Competition and Scholarship Winners

On Friday, April 8th, the 2016 STEM+ART Fiesta concluded with an evening awards ceremony celebrating the efforts of 1,000 middle school students from the region along with over 250 competitors from 27 high schools.

Workforce Solutions Borderplex announced this year’s winners. Here is the list:

The Hospitals of Providence 2016 STEM Challenge (awarded $5,000 in cash prizes)
7th Year for Competition

1st Place – DelValle
2nd Place – Parkland
Best Business Model Canvas- Chapin
Best Presentation – Presidio
Best Elevator Pitch- DelValle

Western Tech Gaming Competition (awarded $1,200 in cash prizes)
3rd Year for Competition

1st Place – Coronado
2nd Place – Pebble Hills

Prudential Math Challenge (awarded $5,000 in cash prizes)
1st Year for Competition

1st Place – Coronado
2nd Place – Pebble Hills

Texas Tech School of Architecture Living on Mars Design Competition (awarded $1,700 in cash prizes)
1st Year for Competition

1st Place – Eastwood
2nd Place – Center for Career and Technology Education
3rd Place – Riverside

EP STEM Foundation VEX Robotics Competition (no cash prize, school recognition and trophies only)
3rd Year for Competition

Tournament Champions – El Dorado, Presidio, and Jefferson/Silva
Design Award – El Dorado
Judges Award – Socorro
Excellence Award – Socorro

Coding Competition (awarded $1,400 in cash prizes)
3rd Year for Competition

1st Place – Coronado
2nd Place – Chapin

STEMentorship (awarded $3,600 in cash prizes)
1st Year for Competition

1st Place – Burges
2nd Place – Eastwood

Scholarships (awarded $10,000 in scholarships)
For the seventh year in a row El Paso Electric has sponsored the STEM event. This year El Paso Electric awarded ten $1,000 scholarships to the following students:
