Are Christian churches seeing a recent jump in attendance?
and in recent years other big churches have sprung up around town. so we wanted to know — is there a christianity growth spurt? — or is it related to our cities growth? abc-7’s jerry najera brings us the story in far west el paso you can find an abundant living faith center sign nestled in between mounds of dirt with a crane in the backround “we’ve see this kind of growth before” charles neiman pastor at abundant living faith center says the recent spurt in big churches popping up around the city isn’t necessarily a spurt. he tells me the faithful have been steadily growing in numbers throughout the years. “people are getting more serious about their life and more serious about their walk with god and more serious about their children having a relationship with god that has come from the stuff that goes on in this society and they don’t like it” neima says the recent growth the city has seen has also contributes to churches adding campuses and they saw a need. “we hav several thousand families that come here from the west side and they would ask us if we were going to build something over there or move that side” othe churches like east side based vino nuevo also recently opened a place of worship in the northeast side of town. “we’ve been here over ten years and it has taken time” miguel moran is a associate pastor at vino nuevo. he tells me their expansion is more a matter of spreading the gospel “we ar not going to wait around or sit around and wait for them to come in we’ve been called to go out there and work” bot vino nuevo and abundant living faith center’s new additions are smaller but both say the gospel remains the same. vino nuevo’s northeast church is already up and running the west side abundant living faith center is expected to open sometime after the first of the year.
