73-year old woman killed after being struck by husbands truck

Special Traffic Investigators responded to the 8900 block of Mt Delano to assist with the investigation of a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a 73-year old woman.

73-year old Maria Delores Castor was pruning trees in the front of her home and was unable to reach the top branches.

Castor’s husband, 76-year old Francisco Castor, backed his truck so that she could stand on the bed of the truck to reach the upper branches. As he backed over the curb the truck accelerated and struck Ms. Castor and then an unoccupied parked car.

Ms. Castor was transported to University Medical Center where she was pronounced
dead.
