Deputies charge couple with animal cruelty, allegedly left dog inside hot car
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a couple who allegedly left a dog inside a vehicle without food or water and charged them with animal cruelty.
The arrests were made June 7th, 2016 on the 8300 block of Doniphan Dr. That’s where deputies found a small black dog inside a vehicle at about 4 p.m.
The West Valley Fire Department helped rescue the dog and deputies turned it over to animal services.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old Romelia Lozoya and 52-year-old Guadalupe Lozoya.
The Human Society says that on a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rapidly rise to dangerous levels.
On an 85-degree day, for example, the temperature inside a car with the windows opened slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees.
Pets left inside a vehicle in these conditions “may suffer irreversible organ damage or die,” according to the Humane Society.
