El Paso boxer Antonio Escalante sentenced to prison for probation violations
El Paso boxer Antonio Escalante was sentenced to 5 years and 2 years in prison on 2 probation violation charges in connection with a former DWI case.
The sentences will be served concurrently, so Escalante could serve up to a maximum of 5 years in state jail.
According to Escalante’s attorney, Gary Hill, Escalante violated his probation curfew, entered a place that serves alcohol along with consuming alcohol during his curfew.
Escalante’s arrest for DWI Dec. 3 was his fourth this year. He was charged with DWI 3 or more in his latest arrest.
According to the police affidavit, police received several calls about a possible drunk driver in a gray Pontiac vehicle in the 10700 block of Gateway North at 4:34 p.m. Dec. 3.
Escalante could be released from prison in 8 months if he behaves and has no problems while incarcerated, according to his attorney.
