CBP Officers Seize Pork Bologna at El Paso Port of Entry
Customs and Border Protection officers seized 14 rolls of Mexican bologna Thursday at the Bridge of Americas.
The deli meat is prohibited because it is made from pork and has potential foreign animal diseases that could harm the U.S. Pork industry, officials said.
The driver of a pickup truck with New Mexico license plates admitted to having multiple rolls of bologna under the rear seat of the vehicle.
CBP discovered the contraband and destroyed it. The driver is not facing any charges.
CBP says if he had not confessed to having the product, he could have been fined up to $1,000.
