Deadmau5 returning to El Paso as part of NYE music festival

Internationally known DJ, Deadmau5, will be returning to El Paso this New Year’s Eve.

Deadmau5 and rising DJ and producer, RL Grime, will both perform at the El Paso Convention Center December 31st as part of the “Lights All Night” tour.

“Deadmau5 is one of the largest acts in electronic music from a global perspective, he’s really not been on much a club tour as much as headlining major music festivals across the world so be able to present him in El Paso on a Saturday on New Year’s Eve to us is a really good opportunity,” Highland Concerts CEO Scott Osburn said.

The tour, which is hosted by Highland Concerts, is an electronic dance music festival normally held in Dallas. For the first time, the tour is being expanded to El Paso.

“They caught wind of the EDM kind of concerts that happen here like the successful Neon Desert Music Festival, so they figured this would be a great market to expand to,” El Paso Live’s Assistant General Manager Ryan Lympus said.

“We actually for the last couple years have been watching the market play, we’ve seen other festivals such as Neon Desert and just the growing music scene and entertainment scene and always thought it was a really great opportunity and a great place within the state to expand Lights All Night specifically,” Osburn said.

The last time Deadmou5 was in El Paso was in 2012, at the Convention Center. It was a sold-out crowd that brought in at least 10,000 people.

“Hopefully we can do it again for New Year’s Eve,” Lympus said.

Osburn says “Lights All Night” brings in millions of dollars in revenue to Dallas. With Deadmau5 making his return during a holiday weekend and during the annual Sun Bowl game–the outcome is expected to be just as great.

“Knowing this comes on the backs of the holidays, the Sun Bowl and now we have this great event on new year’s eve, we think people are going to come from around the region, to be able to see this concert,” Lympus said.

“My love for EDM started with Deadmau5 and it’s just a great opportunity to see a legend,” Deadmau5 fan Kevin Paz said.

The full line-up for the festival will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 10th and can be purchased online at:http://eptx.co/1tdCOkA.
