Zapatos Rojos

violence against women–through art. that’s what organizers and artists behind “zapatos rojos.” are doing. it’s a travelling exhibit that features more than 250 red pairs of shoes that have been collected and painted throughout the ciudad jurez-el paso area. each pair of shoes represents a victim of gender violence, and the color red represents the blood, violence and suffering of missing women: in juarez, we have crosses painted everywhere, we have different crosses, but we sometimes we forget why we got in there in the first place. so i want to see how the presence of art can remind you of a social issue like this.” this one-day exhibit in el paso is hosted by the el paso museum of art and wise latina international. and now
